Paperwork

I hope this website will also be a resource for future couples planning a wedding in Rome so I'm posting here the requirements for a Catholic Wedding, more details posted at The Italian Wedding Event.

  • Certificate of Baptism
  • Certificate of First Communion
  • Certificate of Confirmation
  • Declaration from Parish Priest that states bride and groom are active in the Catholic Church and intend to seriously have a religious blessing in Italy.
  • Certificate of Premarital (Pre Cana) Classes
  • Nihil Obstat: ¬†Letter from Parish Bishop stating that bride and groom have no impediment to get married in the Italian Church.
  • Prenuptial Inquiry Form issued by the archdiocese.
  • Permission of mixed religion or Dispensation (Required in our case due to the fact that Jay is not Catholic and we will marry in a Catholic church)
